A few tips on how to recognize fraud and trade safely on our portals AutoDiler.me and Oglasi.me
Recently, administrators of our portals have received a large number of reports related to the misuse of our portals by fake "buyers" fraudsters, whose only goal is to obtain data from your credit or debit bank card.
Example of fraud below:
Namely, users of our portal receive messages - most often via Viber/WhatsApp from foreign numbers in which allegedly interested "buyers" are interested in the item you are selling, delivery options and more.
For now everything looks normal and the only thing that can hint that it's fraud are the foreign numbers used for sending such messages as well as poor knowledge of our language.
After these first messages, the "buyer" fraudster sends a link to fake pages of well-known courier services (usually a fake DHL page) with clear instructions that you as a seller need to enter your card number so they can send you money.
If you receive such a message, it should be 100% clear to you that it is fraud and you should immediately stop communication with the user. As a seller, you should never enter your card number - for receiving money from the buyer it is completely sufficient to send your giro account number or IBAN.
A few tips for safe trading:
• When buying, do not send money in advance, but use a courier service, pay cash on delivery.
• Never give your personal data (ID number, ID card number...) or your card numbers, none of this information is needed for the buyer to pay you for the product you are selling.
• Give up the purchase if the seller avoids personal contact, payment through bank account or cash on delivery.
• If the price is unrealistically low, carefully check the item for sale or the seller.
• If a buyer sends you a link to some page to enter your data, do not follow that link, it's probably some form of fraud and collection of your personal data.
We note that our portal has no connection with the collection of items, and that sales are made EXCLUSIVELY by direct contact between buyer and seller.
If fraud occurs, an attempt at fraud, or you simply want to check if you are communicating with a potential fraudster, we recommend that before taking any further action, contact the User Support Sector where you will receive useful advice and further instructions.
This way we invite you to follow the above advice and if fraud occurs, an attempt at fraud, or you simply want to check if you are communicating with a potential fraudster, call one of the administrative phones 067/312-555, 067/313-555 or 067/733-941 to help you.
